THE FANSLEUTH CLUBHOUSE
Your game. Your privacy.
What FanSleuth saves, why it saves it, and the choices you have.
Who to contact
FanSleuth is an independent sports guessing game. Contact playfansleuth@gmail.com about privacy, corrections, or deletion requests. FanSleuth operates in the United States. The final operator disclosure is under review before this notice takes effect.
Information used to run the game
- Your play: submitted questions and guesses, answers, round progress, results, game settings, and challenge nicknames and hints. Please don't put personal or sensitive information into a question, hint, or nickname.
- Browser identifiers: cookies recognize an invited-beta session and the same browser across visits. They help resume games and remember a Daily attempt. They are not an account that follows you across devices.
- Preferences: browser storage remembers things such as theme, sound, filters, saved-round references, and which fun facts you have seen. Your time zone is used to select the Daily calendar date; it is not precise GPS location.
- Service information: hosting providers may process IP addresses, request times, requested pages, browser information, and errors to deliver and protect the service. FanSleuth does not use shared IP addresses as a player's Daily identity.
- Support messages: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
Why we use it
We use this information to operate and secure the game, save progress, run challenge standings, respond to support requests, and improve question coverage and difficulty. Unanswered-question analysis groups reduced wording templates for administrator review. Your original submitted text is still part of the saved round history. Difficulty learning uses hashed browser-linked identifiers; this is not a promise of anonymity.
Voice is optional
Voice starts only when you choose it and your browser permits microphone access. Your browser or its speech-recognition provider may process audio online under its own terms. FanSleuth receives recognized text and does not store microphone audio. You can type instead and revoke microphone permission in your browser settings.
Who can see information
People with a Friendly challenge link can join that room. The host can see challenge standings; participants can see them after completing their attempt. Standings show nicknames and results. Other players are not shown your question history. Treat challenge links as shareable, not private credentials. Daily community comparisons show aggregate results.
Authorized operators can access stored information to maintain the service. Railway hosts the game and stored data; Google/Gmail handles support email. Browser speech services, external story links, and sharing destinations have their own privacy practices. Sharing opens only when you choose it. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Cookies, ads, and tracking
The reviewed beta has no advertising or third-party marketing analytics. Its cookies and browser storage support access, progress, security, and preferences. We do not sell player information or use it for cross-site targeted advertising. The game does not currently change its behavior in response to Do Not Track signals. Third-party sites you choose to visit may have their own tracking practices.
How long information stays
Current application retention settings are:
- Beta session cookies: up to 30 days. The persistent Daily browser cookie: up to one year, renewed during use; its server-side mapping can last 400 days after renewal.
- Ordinary saved rounds and challenge records: generally 90 days after their latest save. Associated community records generally expire after 90 days.
- Reduced unanswered-question groups: a rolling 30-day window. Difficulty records can remain for one year after update; their learning events use a shorter rolling window.
- Official Daily solve history and streaks, once enabled: no automatic expiration is currently configured. Historical puzzle snapshots are also retained for the archive.
- Local browser settings remain until cleared. Support email, provider logs, and backups have separate retention settings; those schedules must be confirmed before launch.
Record expiration is not a promise of immediate erasure from provider backups. The final launch notice will reflect the approved retention schedule.
Your choices
You can stop using voice, choose what to share, and clear site storage through your browser. Clearing browser storage can remove access to saved progress; it does not itself delete server records. For access, correction, or deletion requests, email us. We may ask for enough information to locate the relevant record and verify the request. Never send your invitation code, session cookies, passwords, or identification documents. Applicable privacy rights depend on where you live.
Younger players
The launch age policy is still under review. The current beta does not provide a verified parental-consent process. A parent or guardian concerned about a child's information can contact us at the address above. This draft does not establish eligibility for children under 13.
Changes to this notice
We will publish the final effective date and update this page when practices change. Material changes will also be highlighted in the game before they take effect where required.
